No Sleep on Missions, But Worth It

October 25, 2015

Hi there!!

I had another great week! You have to make the best of it! There were a lot of animals involved in my life last week. Kittens, toads, dogs, and other things I think.

We went on a hike in Idyllwild today! It was so fun and really tough.. We are all out of shape. But then again, we never stick to the trails, it always happens!

Sister Cozzens with Sister Peterson, a fellow Aggie!

We had a major leak in our ceiling, hopefully it is fixed by now.

I went on two exchanges this week! I went to the Little Lake Ward on Wednesday with Sister Petersen. When we were walking and talking, there was this kid that gives out corn on the cob. But this corn on the cob is AMAZING. He puts mayo, parmesan cheese, and some kind of spicy liquid sauce-it wasn't too spicy, but it was amazing!!! I want more. He needs to come to our area more often.

Sisters Cozzens and Peterson (Sister Turner's
MTC companion)

I also went on exchanges and stayed in my area. Hermana Fabian (Spanish speaking) came down from EASTVALE. Man I miss that place... :/ But Valle Vista is where Heavenly Father needs me to be!

Our car started to freak out on Friday night (I'm not even going to describe it, because I don't know car vocab.) Let's just say it wasn't working the way it was supposed to. We brought it in to the dealership, and since I am not old enough to rent a car, an elder had to give me his car so he could get the rental, and you know what they gave him??? A 2016 Chevy Tahoe. Yeah. I wanted to drive that thing, but I wasn't able to.

It was perfect timing too! We went hiking this morning in Idyllwild, and he drove up a bunch of elders so that they could save miles. It is a nice car. #soccermomstatus.

It can be hard to be diligent. I was talking to my fellow STL companion, Hermana Rutherford, and she was telling me about integrity and showing the Lord what kind of disciple she wants to be. As a leader in the mission, it is so important to be exactly obedient, not only to be a good example to those around me, but to show the Lord that I am and want to be a disciple of Him.

OBEDIENCE. Abraham 3:25 "And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them." Turn to it. Our purpose here on earth is to show how obedient we are willing to be, and to show our Heavenly Father that we want to return to Him and receive Eternal Life.

He has given us the way, the truth, and the life. He's given us the straight and narrow path which leads to Eternal Life. He's given us the commandments. I encourage you all to follow the example of Jesus Christ, and do "all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command." We will be eternally blessed for it, and we will have that salvation that we seek! I know that the church is true. Christ lives. He is our mediator and only in and through the blood of the Lamb, can we be saved.

Let's Start Cars on Fire

October 19, 2015

Well hello!

I had a crazy week! So much happened. First, I wanted to boil some eggs, and I got distracted (of course) and forgot about them. Sister Roberts, Ogden, Turner, and I were all talking in the other room, when we heard this popping noise (more like a small explosion). Me, being me, I didn't really know what it was. I thought there was just a person in our home, and it wasn't a big deal to me. Sister Roberts had a very scared look on her face (no one had known that I started some eggs in the pot). Then, it hit me. I jumped up and ran to the kitchen, and I looked in the pot. I yelled to the other sisters "Guys!!! I messed up!!!!"

It was also my half way mark on Wednesday. It is so crazy that I have been out nine months. It is kind of sad, and I feel really old (mission age of course). We took some pictures (hope you like them), we went out to lunch to celebrate, I LOVE FLAUTAS.

It was 69 degrees here last night. We turned the heat on in our car! We were so cold!

We had 3 investigators at church yesterday!!!!!! And we had a baptism!! When we were filling up the font, there were a few cockroaches in there, so Sister Turner and I were going to take our shoes and socks off and go fishing for some bugs with some paper towel. But then the elders gave us a pool bug scooper thing.

I am so glad and grateful that I was able to help one of God's children enter the waters of baptism. It was a great day. After she came up out of the water, she gave this huge sigh and looked up. She told us that when she was getting ready afterward, she began sobbing. She was so happy, and she said that she felt so clean. The Spirit was so strong. I love her and I love missionary work!

Two nights ago, we were driving home from dinner and the road we were driving on wasn't very busy. The car in front of was a little distance away. We were having a fun/joking conversation in the car, and I was watching the car in front of me. This big light appeared on the car, and I was like "What is that??"-inside my head. Then the light turned orange, and it seemed like I had just jumped into an action movie. I said to the other sisters: "THAT CAR IS ON FIRE!! OH MY GOSH!" The car then pulled over, and we pulled over on a different road parallel to the road the car was parked on. Sister Roberts jumped out of the car and began yelling at the guy that had gotten out of the car that was on fire. He was in total shock, and he may have been on something as well. He was not responding. He walked away though. We were the first people to pull over. I called 911 and told them our emergency. We kept watching this car. Then the tires began to blow up. We yelled at each other, "GET IN THE CAR!!!" Now, keep in mind, that we were far enough away, but we may have been in danger. We ended up okay though. It was so crazy. Let me tell you. The firemen got there before the fire reached the gas tank and put out the fire, thank goodness. We left after that. But HOLY COW!!!!! #Hemet. It was cool, but I hope and pray that that guy was okay.

I also dropped my xoxo ring down the sink (sorry Lindsey, our friendship is still important.) I tried fishing it out with a hanger. I kind of gave up... p.s. check out my tan line in that picture!!

And that is what Hemet looks like: Shopping carts in front of peoples homes.

Have a great week! Remember what is most important!

Hi!

October 12, 2015
Hi!
On Tuesday this week, we were walking around and we see this huge cloud of smoke coming from the ground a short distance away. And we were like "that's a fire!" So we sped walked over there and there was a house on fire! When we were about to the house, we saw a fire truck come, so everything was okay! The missionaries and the firemen were there to save the day. Two of the best groups of people! But we just kept walking... I don't think that there was anything that we could have done.

Another time, we were at Chipotle and there were a few cops and a doctor there! Nothing was going to go down there that day!

Sister Roberts' new companion was training at the Mission Office,
so the Sisters were in a three-some for part of the week

Our investigator, Sarah, is still on the pathway to the gate of baptism this upcoming Sunday! In her interview with Elder Cornia, she taught him about the Atonement and gave him tips to give to other missionaries! In the words of Sister Turner, Sarah is, "One in a million bajillion!"You are all invited to attend her baptism! It is going to be fantastic! It will be at 4 o'clock. But I'm not going to give you the address.... So... Good luck. I really am excited, though. I feel truly blessed to have had Sarah fall into our arms. She was and is such a miracle and a blessing. I am so happy that I can help one of God's choice daughters enter the waters of baptism. She is so excited. I love her too. She's excited to help us teach our other investigators!

Sister Turner, Sarah (investigator), Sister Cozzens

Our other investigator, Janet, came to church for the first time! Her progress had been moving slowly, but I could see how important it is to get our investigators to church. Her fellowship is also awesome! Fellowship, church, prayer, and scripture study are essential in their conversion.

On Wednesday, we knocked on so many doors, and a lot of them didn't answer. We went through our daily and backup plans. I'll send a picture of my planner. It's great! Planners are so nice. I would go crazy without one.

Sister Cozzens' planner that she decorates for every transfer

John 21:!5 says: "Lovest thou me more than these?" Are we putting things ahead of our Savior, Jesus Christ? Is he the focal point of our lives? May we make sure that He is the center of our lives. He is, after all, the center of the Plan of Salvation. Only in and through the Atonement of Jesus Christ can we find lasting salvation.

Wow

October 5, 2015

How is everyone doing? Another transfer has flown by! Sister Turner and I are staying together!! :) I get to finish her training!

We had a weird week! Not weird weird, just not normal missionary work, since we went to the Redlands Temple, Sister Da Silva and I had MLC (Missionary Leadership Council), and General Conference (which was amazing)! So all good things!

I don't have a lot to update you all on, which is okay! We are going to do more this week! Oh! Sister Roberts is training!!!!!!!!

Just a piece of advice: Keep your head up.

14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions. 15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord. Mosiah 24:14-15

My favorite scriptures. We will have trials in our lives. And we all have weaknesses. Heavenly Father gives us weaknesses so that we will humble ourselves and realize that we cannot overcome our trials and weaknesses unless we turn to our Savior: "For if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." Ether 12:27

We went to the Redlands Temple last week. We always get Café Rio after every temple trip.

Keep your eyes on the prize!

Jesus Christ suffered all things for US. Take advantage of his Atonement. Pray for the enabling power of grace, and your weak things will become strong unto you.

I know that our Savior lives. I testify that He lives. Jesus is the Christ, our Redeemer.
